Enterprise AI Adoption Research Notes

Why the platform needs function-specific pathways

The pattern is consistent: access to AI tools is no longer the hard part. The hard part is turning scattered usage into redesigned work, governed workflows, and durable adoption.

Research notes

  • McKinsey's 2025 State of AI survey reports broad usage but limited enterprise scaling. It specifically points to workflow redesign, senior-leader ownership, human validation, KPI tracking, and the six transformation dimensions of strategy, talent, operating model, technology, data, and adoption/scaling.
  • Microsoft Work Trend Index 2025 frames the coming work shift as human-led, AI-operated teams. The useful platform implication is not "teach prompts once"; it is helping employees define agent roles, ownership, review, and ongoing learning.
  • BCG's AI at Work 2025 highlights the frontline adoption gap: leaders and managers use GenAI more regularly than frontline employees, while regular frontline use had stalled around half of employees in the survey. BCG points to leadership support, the right tools, and enough practical training/coaching as adoption requirements.
  • Deloitte's 2026 enterprise AI report says access expanded quickly, but the skills gap, agent governance, and operational readiness remain major constraints. That supports AINO's emphasis on baseline, role pathways, Builder workflow packaging, and reinforcement.

Platform implications

  1. The assessment must identify function-level maturity, not only company-wide maturity.
  2. Each function needs a first workflow, not a generic module list.
  3. Builders are a packaging mechanism: they convert advanced usage into reusable prompts, commands, skills, SOPs, templates, or internal tools.
  4. Governance needs to be inside the workflow: source-of-truth rules, review gates, forbidden actions, and escalation.
  5. Retained use matters more than course completion. Measure reuse at 30, 60, and 90 days.
